photosynth and picasa
This barely qualifies as something “made”, but it looks fairly cool. I was asked yesterday if it was possible to make a photosynth from one’s own photos. I knew this was supposed to be the case at some, possibly future, date, so I googled. And, it turns out, you can! And even embed the results! And have been able to for some time…
I was inspired to make one of my own, and since I don’t have much in the way of overlapping shots on my Flickr, I turned to my ancient (read: pre-2008) photos on Picasa Web Albums. Did you know I have 1,514 images on Picasa? I only have 1,194 on Flickr, despite considering Flickr my main image sharing site. Apparently I was not as adept at editorializing as I am now. At least, I hope that is the reason for my decreased image-production.
My old Picasa photos did provide me with an album dedicated to the Bird’s Nest stadium by Herzog & de Meuron in Beijing, which I was very lucky to visit while under construction. You can take a walk around it yourself, using the magic of 3D spatial reconstruction.
