- “Towel Sold Seperately”
PopDose, to celebrate the 10th (!) anniversary of the passing of the god Douglas Adams, has put together a two volume mixtape companion to The Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy. Like a million other nerds in the known universe, I have an intense attachment to Douglas’ work, especially the Guide; it was literally the first (non-Choose Your Own Adventure) book I ever read of my own volition. It taught me actual life lessons and is at least partly responsible for any sense of humor I have. Seeing this mix made pull out my own raggedy paperbook copy, which alone has already brightened up a day full of gray clouds and the usual creeping, existential horror I find myself in, well, pretty much all the time. This mix includes the obvious Radiohead song (“Paranoid Android“) but really wins for me by providing for me the instrumental that served as the intro to the BBC’s classic TV adaption (shitty as it is, it’s worlds better than that Hollywood abortion from 2005). It’s by The Eagles, of all people.
You can get it all here. (H/T Jason Josephes.)

Pattern Matters also aims to demonstrate that pattern is a crucial form of design element in graphic design which eventually evident that pattern is not merely a decorating tool.
