Pentagonal Pillow
[AFG_gallery id=’13’]
It’s true that I’m shamelessly mixing pentagons and hexagons here. Just think of it as a flat soccer ball. This pillow is part of the Great Living Room Redesign of 2011/12. It’s made of leather, upholstery fabric, suiting and quilting material left over from the lovely (but not yet finished) quilt my mother is contributing to the re-do. I based the pattern off the twist fold at the center of the Kawaski Rose. However, instead of the traditional four edges I use five and I’ve adjusted the angles so it squashes basically flat. Each “petal” of the crease pattern is cut from a different piece of fabric which I then sewed together around the central pentagon. The folds are tacked down with some invisible thread to help the pillow keep its shape when stuffed.
