So you want to cut/draw something on my craft ROBO pro!

My craft ROBO pro is a wonderous machine. It can cut! And draw! And both cut and draw! If you’d like it to do one or more of these things for you, here are some guidelines:

The cuttable/drawable area is about A3 in size, but most of the material I have is in the 8.5″ x 11″ to 9″ x 12″ range. However, you should feel free to bring your own if you’d like something larger. Available materials here will include:

Yellow, green, grey, black and red adhesive vinyl. This is good for laptop decals, desk decals, wallet decals, and, well, decals in general.

Purple, yellow, green and red cling vinyl. This is good for lamps and mirror decals.

Vellum, cover stock, trace, various colors of construction paper. This is good for drawing lots of things.

Mylar and polypropylene in grey, blue, yellow, red and orange. This is good swirly sculpture and jewelry.

Leather in yellow and blue. +Pending testing on my new machine+ This is good for iPad cases.

Old pages from books. This is good for recovering desks.

Neutral fabrics. This is good for typography and Janis Joplin.

The knife can cut material up to about 1 mm thick, or soft material that is thicker (this requires some testing still). I also have a variety of pens:

Sign pens in magenta, orange, light green, dark green, light purple, dark purple, cyan, blue, red, dark red, orange, yellow and black.

Staedler 0.3 mm in yellow, orange, red, magenta, blue, cyan, light green, dark green, brown and black

Brush pens in many shades of grey, plum, red and blue.

Opaque white and silver markers.

Soft graphite. +Pending testing+

I’ll have some computers around for people to design on, but if you’d like anything complex please make an Illustrator file and email it to me at jftesser@gmail.com. If you want to use multiple tools (such as multiple pens or both a pen and knife) separate the geometry into layers by tool. If you’re cutting, make sure that layer is on the bottom.

See you on Thursday!
